Sagrada Familia: Ashley Crosby-May 20
6:09 PMVisiting the Sagrada Familia was simply one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. The indescribable beauty was breath taking. There was beautiful stained glass windows that allowed the natural sunlight to come in and added tints of color into the space. Looking at the Sagrada Familia on the outside it holds a lot of historical features that portrayed who Gaudi was as a person and the amazing architectural talents he had. When I entered it felt as if I was in a completely different space. It almost had a more modern and clean look compared to the outside, but still felt historical, and that is what I think I appreciated the most. No matter what direction you looked there was always something to look at from the floor the the columns to the ceiling the amount of detail put into every little aspect was simply amazing.
I also liked how the construction was still going on and the beauty was still present along with the resiliency. I think it's amazing that the church is still being worked on even though Gaudi has passed away. Even though he is gone, his ideas still live on and people are dedicated to finishing what Gaudi started. There was a space in there that people were actually working on models and on computer programs and we were able to watch them do these things and it was cool to watch them work on such a large project right inside the church!
Hopefully it will actually be done in 2026 like "expected", but we will have to wait and see if they really believe it will ever actually be fully complete. If it is finished, you bet we'll be back for a 10 year reunion and the Sagrada Familia will be our first stop!
