What is Resiliency?

Interior Architecture + Design undergraduate program
This course examines the development and impact of resiliency as it relates to a community’s ability to predict, react and adapt to unanticipated factors.  Students gain factual knowledge about the strategies and tools required for implementing resiliency with a focus on historical built environments and business continuity planning.  Students analyze and observe various resilient approaches used across the globe and explore these important cultural and geographical differences through international travel.

For the spring 2016 semester we are focusing on Boston and Barcelona.  Mount Ida College is located in Newton MA and travel to Barcelona will occur in May 2016.

Visiting Barcelona was one of the greatest experiences I have ever encountered.  Having this opportunity was once in a lifetime and I learned so much about this amazing city in just one week. Having the opportunity to visit this city, experience their culture and food, learn about their history, and see it all for myself was just incredible. My few places in Barcelona were Antonio Gaudi's works including Casa Batllo and Sagrada Familia, visiting with the young architects and seeing their work, visiting Monserat, and exploring and finding incredible places within the city.

In addition to seeing Barcelona, we also had the chance to visit the beautiful city of Girona.  This was one of my favorite places because of the history it told and it put it all into perspective on how people used to live many years ago.

Girona

Every place we visited was so amazing that I cannot choose my favorite.  Seeing this new city for the first time has given me the desire to travel as much as I can and also to return the Barcelona and see more of its amazing features.

  1. It's true Nicole and now you have the travel bug and as you put it... "the desire to travel as much as I can". I too love to travel and keep adding to my global experiences :-) Everyone is different and all are very memorable and special!
